OYSTERCATCHERS VISIT THE COAST

(Wait a moment for download.)

A pair of Black Oystercatchers visit Rocky Creek State Park, a wayside about one mile south of Depoe Bay, Oregon off Highway 101.

Oystercatchers are a favorite of Coastal residents and are usually heard before they are seen, their high pitched "peep! peep!" catching one's attention.  There is no discernable difference between male and female Oystercatchers and they are often spotted in pairs, easily recognizable by their shiny black feathers and long bright red beaks.
